The Birthday Cakes
Carter was lucky enough to get two birthday cakes this year. I am taking a cake decorating class right now and we decorate a cake every class. This week was a clown cake. I thought it worked well for a birthday.
The demo derby cake is courtesy of Nate and Carter. They had a great time painting and smashing the cars for the cake. It is a little hard to see in the picture-but there is a 24k car like Nate always drove and an #18 cow car for his friend Chris. For those of you who have never seen a demolition derby you might not quite get it. But it is a pretty accurate replica of what it looks like here in Kentucky.

Can you guess?
Any guesses as to what Carter might be working on for his birthday celebration?

Bottle Pro
Kennedy has started holding her bottles on her own, which can be very handy sometimes. She seems like a very independent spirit in general. She is happiest left to her own devices exploring all over the house. Unfortunately she puts everything in her mouth and she keeps me on my toes trying to grab every minuscule piece of anything she can find lying around. It is amazing what your vacuum misses, by the way.
But the bottle feeding is wonderful. Carter never held his own bottles. Not that he wasn't capable, he just wanted me to do it. He is still that way about lots of thing, like picking up his toys for instance. But it sure is great when you are trying to get ready, running late, and running around frazzled because the baby still needs a bottle to be able to hand her the bottle in her crib, or on a pillow and let her take care of the rest.
Now don't get all up in arms all you moms out there that believe that feeding time is supposed to be about bonding. I do not let her do it solo all the time, only when things are really crazy. But it sure is nice to have the option.

Thanks Aunt Stephanie
Steph sent this adorable hat for Kennedy. I love that it has a strap under her chin making it hard for her to take off. She doesn't like having things on her head and is always pulling off her hats. This sure will come in handy since we seem to be having one of the coldest winters ever here in KY. I can't wait to take her out in it.

The Tower
When Carter asked his dad to build blocks with him for a few minutes before bed we never imagined what they would end up with. An hour later, here it is--The Tower. Definitely the tallest thing we've ever built with Trio blocks.
