Comparison

Okay, so everyone said that my three year old would seem huge after having a newborn. Boy were you all right. I was away for a week and a half when Carter came up to Pittsburgh with Nate. He was huge! Not only did it seem like he had grown while I was gone but after taking care of Kennedy it was almost comical how big he seemed. I think this picture pretty much sums it all up. Carter is potty-trained by the way, but we still put him in diapers at night. This was when we were getting ready for bed. Kennedy is the little doll up in the top corner if you were having a hard time finding her amidst my three year old monster!

A few more pics

Here are a few more pictures of Kennedy. I need to take some more. She has been such a great baby. Last night she slept from midnight till 5am! Let's hope she keeps it up.

Carter's Reaction

Nate brought Carter with him to Pittsburgh this weekend. His reaction to Kennedy was pretty adorable. For the first half hour he had to help do everything. He held her and fed her a bottle. He seemed totally enamored with her. But by Saturday the novelty had lessened and he went right back to a typical preschooler who pretty much ignores her most of the time. To be honest I prefer it that way. Being "helpful" at three is often not very helpful at all, but still adorable!

Our Little Miracle

Well, here she is, Kennedy Elise Nelson. It has been such an incredible journey and we are so excited to have her. Adoption truly is a miracle and we are so grateful for her birth family that gave us such a precious gift. We can't wait to bring her back to Kentucky, all 10 lbs. 9 oz of her!

Well, here is the root of all the plumbing problems we've had for the last year or so. Can you believe that all that stuff managed to go down the drain? Nasty! This is a really good reason why you should always have a real shower stopper instead of the take in and out kind. We will be putting one in. But how great to finally have a tub that doesn't back up every few weeks. These little guys were quite a ways down in the plumbing, we are just lucky that Nate decided to tear out the whole bathroom sub floor so he could have access to them. Let it be a lesson to all of you out there.

Carter's Three Year Old Pictures

We went to JcPenney's today and got pictures of Carter taken for his third birthday. Here are a few. It is always fun to get professional portraits taken. It made me want to schedule to have a family picture taken. Maybe for Christmas this year.

Like Father Like Son

Well, for those of you that did not already know Nate has a thing for guns right now. Last year he went out and bought a handgun without telling me and this year we negotiated and he purchased a rifle. It was a Nerf gun Christmas, and we now own at least 5 Nerf guns. So Carter is following right along in his father's footsteps.
Oh, and a shout out must go to Granny for the wonderful Trio blocks that Carter got for his birthday. He plays with them everyday and loves building trains, airplanes, and houses with them. This specimen is of course built by the older child in the household and the boys both had a grand time pretending to play deer hunter. How Kentucky we are!
